Sleep Tight Farm: A Farm Prepares for Winter by Eugenie Doyle; illustrated by Becca Stadtlander. 2016. Paint

Brief summary: December comes and a family prepares the farm for winter. The family says good night to the berry plants by covering them in straw. The father covers the field with oats and rye to protect them. They prune the raspberries and cut firewood to keep warm. They secure hoop-houses with plastic sides and prepare the chicken coop. They build a windbreak for the beehives and ready the farm stand for what they sell in Winter. Equipment is covered to prevent rust. All is tucked in ready for the quilt of white snow.

Comments: There is an author’s note in back. One of the books to share with primary during the winter study. Loved the imagery of the whole farm being prepared to go to bed for the winter. The illustrations reminded me of those beautiful painted Christmas card scenes.
