I have noticed that many of my little students do not know about animals like I did when I was a child. I first found this out when reading The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Over half the class had not seen or were familiar with goats. Learning from my students, I often pair picture books and nonfiction books for my story times. I also found they love when I add short videos with the animals in their habitat.
