Pablo in the Snow by Teri Sloat

Pablo in the Snow by Teri Sloat; illustrated by Rosalinde Bonnet. 2017. Published by Henry & Holt Company.

Brief summary: Pablo, an adorable fluffy white lamb, goes out to his first snow. ‘ “What is it for?” he wonders.” Pablo thinks it is for making tracks, riding a sled, and snowball fighting. After he gets together with his friends, Squirrel, Shrew, and Rabbit, they come across Fox who is making a snowman.  Pablo stays with the snowman not realizing a snowstorm is falling all around him and covering his footsteps back home. He starts to cry until he sees two moving snowballs realizing his snow-covered Mom and Dad are there to bring him back home to the barn where they cuddle inside.

Comments: This would be a cute seasonal winter story to tell in the winter unit of study or for the joy of reading. Students could make Pablo with cotton balls glues to blue construction paper.
