The Very Last Leaf by Stef Wade

The Very Last Leaf by Stef Wade; illustrated Jennifer Davison. 2020. Published with Capstone Editions.

Brief summary: Lance Cottonwood is an excellent student. He does well in many leaf classes like budding, wind resistance, and pigment changing. His leaf classmates have all taken the final test of the autumn semester, which if he passes will have him fall from the tree and land with his other classmates to continue their studies.

After several days and a lot of encouragement from his friends, Lance lets go.

Comments: I always wondered about that last autumn leaf handing on to the barren tree’s branch. Cute story and perfect for introducing autumn units and personification.
